Master in Studio Art Program
This certificate program, directed by the School Executive Director Maurizio Pellegrin and taught by a selected number of faculty members, is designed for artists that want to advance their skills, focusing on an Interdisciplinary experience, immersive studio practice and looking to build a career in the arts.
In addition to the development of diverse practices, the participants will organize their portfolio, artist statement, website, photographic archive, along with interacting with other artists. New York School of the Arts is in the heart of New York City, offering the possibility to access hundreds of art galleries, museums, art fairs, universities, and cultural centers. Our focused and dedicated faculty and staff, and our welcoming environment will help in your artistic Journey.
The MASTER IN STUDIO ART is open to:
• Students that have completed NYSA’s Arts Intensive Program Alumni
• Students from other institutions with an equivalent experience
• Artists with a strong and consistent portfolio (subject to review and approval) Graduated with a Master from another institution
• Individual with substantial knowledge in the arts (subject to review and approval).
All courses take place onsite at our school facilities.
The program includes:
• Option of enrolling with a studio space in a friendly, communal environment. Each workspace is single occupancy. Program enrollment without studio also available.
• Selection of one fine art discipline: Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Drawing, or Mixed Media.
• Course instruction requirements include 12 courses per year. 4 courses in the area of concentration and 8 elective courses.
• Four individual meetings per year with the Executive Director
• Two individual meetings per year with the with faculty members of your choice.
• Four individual meetings (in total) per year with the two selected teachers in the Master area (two meetings with each teacher)
• Two selected workshops per year at no additional cost; one per semester.
• Full access to all school lectures and panel discussions.
• Two sessions dedicated to development. One at the beginning of the year as introduction, the second as revision of the work at the end of the year during the art selection for the show.
• Participation in school group exhibitions throughout the academic year
• One Group critique prior to the Final show opening
• A Final Group Exhibition at the end of the Master in Studio Arts program.
• A certificate authenticating completion of the curriculum.
• Master in Studio Art students can access their studio spaces on school breaks as long as the administrative office is open.
• Regular studio hours are:
Monday - Thursday: 9am - 10pm
Friday, Saturday: 10am - 4pm
Sunday: closed.
Program Tuition
With Studio: $18,000
Participants are allowed to use their studio as much as they want, according to general School Hours.
Without Studio: $8,000.
Courses included, without studio space onsite.
